The Amazingly Simple Messy Bun :)

Picture
This is by far my favorite way to wear my hair. It's simple, easy, time-saving and surprisingly chic. I use this style probably 2 times a week and feel as though it would be unfair not share my "secret" with you.

~Okay, so before you go to bed the night before, take a shower.
~With an old-school scrunchy (and towel dried hair), take random pieces of hair and scrunch them into a ball (tying the scrunchy around them)
~In the morning, take out the scrunchy (If you have thick hair, your hair might still be a bit damp, but that's okay). Your hair should be a bit wavy/curly from the way it was scrunched up.
~Now tie your hair back (a bit loosly) into a ponytail with a hair tie.
~Next, bobbypin the ends of the hair strands (randomly) against the back of your head (farther away from the hair band for a bigger bun and vice versa).
~ Add more pins to your liking... and VOILA! You have yourself a messy bun (or atleast what I call my version of a messy  bun).

You can also position the bun at the top of your head by making the original ponytail a bit higher on your head. This will give off more of a Holly Golightly (Breakfast at Tiffany's) feel

Easy and Quick Beauty Tips

Picture
As a typical high school student, I know perfectly well the difficulty of looking even presentable when forced to wake up at 6 am and get ready in half an hour. These tips will help keep you looking your best at school no matter how late your homework kept you up last night. The best part is that these take all of about five seconds to do and they work wonders.
  • Take a shimmery shadow and brush a small bit on the inside corners of your eyes. You'll be amazed the difference this makes in brightening up your entire face and creating the illusion that you actually slept an adequate amount (even though you probably didn't).
  • Use that blush! Just a sweep of a peachy tone on the apples of your cheeks helps you look alive, awake, and ready to face the world.
  • To avoid chapped lips, throw a tube of lip gloss into your purse. I know I  find this tip especially helpful in the middle of the day when my lips are as dry as a desert.
  • Invest in an eyelash curler. Long, luscious lashes do not stand out if you can't see them. Curling your eyelashes takes about twenty seconds and succeeds in enlarging your eyes.

Easy Oatmeal Face Mask

Picture
I clearly remember the first time I used this mask. I was 10. My friend Emily and I were having a sleepover like we always did at that age.  We were had been doing everything: painting each others toenails, giggling about cute boys, talking about our love for dance. The only thing left to do was face masks. Before she could have protested, I whipped out one of my mothers beauty books and found a simple recipe.
Ever since that one night over 5 years ago, I have trusted this skin recipe to help me with my dry cheeks and blotchy skin. It is perfect for doing with your friends. The ingredients are fun and crazy so that when you look in the mirror, you just have to laugh at your reflection.

Mix 1 tbsp honey and 1 tbsp plain yogurt and set aside. Put one jasmine of chamomile teabag in 1/2 cup water and let distribute completely.  Remove teabag and add the honey/yogurt mixture. Add 1/4 cup ground oatmeal. Stir together.
Gently massage onto face and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with water and pat dry face.

Quick Tip:  Eye Makeup Remover

Picture
Do you have problems with waterproof, bright, or just plain stubborn makeup that won't budge?  A natural product that you can use to remove all kinds of eye makeup, from waterproof mascara to liquid eyeliner is OLIVE OIL! Extra Virgin olive oil is not likely to clog your pores and conditions the area around the eyes.  Plus, it removes virtually everything! Just be sure that it is natural, not the chemical stuff.  Take a cotton pad, and dab it into a VERY SMALL amount of olive oil.  A little goes a long way.
